Now passengers can avail free Wi-Fi facility at 100 railway stations in the initial phase. The last station to receive the facility being Kollam in South India.

Earlier, Ministry of Railways has announced to set up free wifi service in 100 stations by the end of 2016. Railways is planning to extend the service to 400 stations by the end of 2017.
A senior railway ministry official has said that they started with Mumbai and ended with Kollam in South India to provide free wifi facility in 100 busiest stations in partnership with google. He further added Railways is planning to extend the service to 400 stations by the end of 2017. Railways initially launched its first free wifi service at Mumbai central station and then continued connecting all busy stations like Bhubaneswar, Bangalore, Howrah, Kanpur, Mathura, Aligarh, Bareilly and Varanasi.
According to railways, over 10 million people who pass through these stations every day now have an access to fast Internet speed to stream, research their destination or download a new book or game for the journey ahead.
RailTel in association with google will provide free Wi-Fi services to passengers under "Railwire".
