Vodafone the second largest telecom operator by subscribers has launched new data plans starting from as low as Rs 24. Dubbed “Bada Data Chota Price” the data packs comes with a validity of 30 days. “We are democratizing data by making it more affordable and accessible. This is key to driving usage and encouraging first-time users to come online,” said Sandeep Kataria, chief commercial officer, Vodafone India.
Recently with the entry of Jio into telecom space all telecom operators area facing a stiff competition to safeguard their consumer base. With the recent announcement by Mukesh Ambani that the all the existing and new consumers can enjoy the free benefits until march 31 2017 it further worsens the situation for operators unless they come with aggressive plans.
The initial period from September to December where the ‘jio welcome offer’ is in existence although saw a tremendous surge in its consumer base but did not yield results as expected by Jio networks. This can be attributed to call drops and slow 4G data speeds.
The new “Jio Happy New Year Offer” may most probably enable reliance Jio to achieve the set targets. Yesterday, Mukesh Ambani made it clear to sort out all the possible issues faced by the consumers before March 2017. we sure expect other telecom operators to come up with plans that will further reduce data costs and drive more data usage.
