Amazon India has signed a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Gujarat tribal department at the vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017. The MOU facilitates Amazon to train educate tribal entrepreneurs and enable them to sell their products not only in India but across the Globe.
There are a wide range of tribal products included such as Bamboo Crafts, Warli Painting, Pithora Painting, Bhada Painting, Clay Craft, Minor Forest Produces (like Honey, Musli, Tamarind), herbal medicines, embroidery items, Tribal food items which have a tremendous potential and demand in urban areas.
The MOU in accordance with Digital India aims to drive digital literacy among tribal entrepreneurs of Gujarat. The Partnership also serves to encourage entrepreneurial spirit among Schedule Castes, Schedule Tribes, and women communities.
Amazon India will also engage with Tribal artisans especially women entrepreneurs and train them in a way to make their products attractive appealing and marketable on the online platform. It will also offer technical guidance and help them on various aspects related to identifying saleable products, grading, standardization, certification and other promotional activities.
Gopal Pillai, Director & GM, Seller Services, Amazon India said that the new collaboration involves training, marketing, selling and delivery of various tribal products and help transform lives of tribal communities across the state and this in a way catalyze the economic development of communities across Gujarat.
