MP Farmers receive Rs 2000 notes with out Mahatma Gandhi's image; Bank says it was printing error

Farmers from the Badodha tehsil of Madhya Pradesh's Sheopur district were shocked when they discovered the Rs 2000 notes without Mahatma Gandhi's image. The farmers withdraw the money from local state bank of India, Shivpuri Road branch on Tuesday. They thought the notes were fake and immediately reported the matter to the Bank officials who declared the notes to be genuine and attributed the missing Gandhi's image due to the printing error.

Laxman Meena a farmer from Bicchugavdi village said that he withdrew Rs 6000 from the bank. The cashier gave him 3 notes of Rs 2000 and he went home. It was not until his son who recognized the defect in the notes and Meena immediately approached the bank for replacement.

A similar incident also happened with another  farmer Gurmeet Singh from Kadukheda village wherein he received 4 Rs 2000 notes without Mahatma Gandhi's  Image.

SBI Branch Manager RD Meena told that the branch notes are not fake and due to printing error Mahatma Gandhi's image went missing in those notes.
