After a six-month of free services which end on March 31, Reliance Jio subscribers can continue to enjoy data services at a nominal price, which offers free voice calls and data, for additional three months till June 2017.
Reliance Jio is working out a new tariff plan which will be valid until June 30, said the report. Unlike the earlier free offers that Jio has been termed predatory, the latest offer will charge a fee of about Rs 100 for data, while voice will be free.
The company’s free voice and data offers have attracted more than 72 million subscribers within four months after its commercial services have been launched on September 5, 2016. India’s top telecom operators, Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone India, have been forced to cut down data and voice rate to counter attack the free offering by Jio. Reliance Jio offers only 4G services and has claimed that its affordable services will trigger huge adoption of data as its production costs are very less than that of its competitors.
