True caller to set up Products and Engineering centre in Bengaluru

True caller run by True Software Scandinavia AB, will set up a product and engineering center in Bangalore. Recently the company appointed company appointed  Narayan Babu as their new director of product engineering in Bengaluru who was previously associated with Dexetra, a mobile App development company.

Currently, the True caller has the only office in India in Gurgaon that runs Indian operations. The new center in Bengaluru is expected to start with 10 engineers who will be actively involved to develop products for Global and Indian Markets.

According to sources from the true caller, it possesses 150 million user base globally of which India accounts for two-thirds of the total user base. It is the third most used app after Facebook and whats App by Indian smartphone users. The company claims there has been a surge of 300% over the last 12 months and were also able to identify 900 million calls and 120 million spam calls a month.


Truecaller is in partnership with handset makers Huawei, Lenovo, Intex, Micromax and Karbonn to integrate its caller identification app. Major markets for True caller App include Middle East, North Africa, and the US. In addition to the true caller App the company also contains product that verifies the sender of text messages and another product that can identify unknown numbers in the call history. The major source of income for true caller turns to be from In-app purchases and advertisements within the app. It was founded by Nami Zarringhalam and Alan Mamedi in 2009.
