It's official now. Xiaomi has finally confirmed the launch date of much-speculated Pinecone processor on February 28 at an event to be held in Beijing. The company released a poster on its weibo page indicating the details of the launch event. Earlier it was speculated Xiaomi Mi 5C to come with Pinecone processor. Also, Xiaomi Mi 6S and Mi Note 3 are rumored to feature Xiaomi's high-end Pinecone processor.
Recent rumor also gave the details of Pinecone processor and it is said to come in two versions. Xaiomi Mi 5C is rumored to launch with V670 model. According to the source, it is learned that the Xiaomi has plans for longtime regarding the pinecone processor.
According to Chinese semiconductor expert Laoyao, Pinecone electronics is a joint venture set up by Xiaomi and Leadcore way back in November 2014. So Xiaomi rather than depending on the Qualcomm and Mediatek, Xiaomi will take advantage of the cellular radio technology of Leadcore for its chipsets.

This will further reduce the operational costs and thereby enables Xiaomi to release the mobile phone at much lesser prices. However much is awaited to be revealed at the launch event on February 28. The event would start at 2 PM on that day and the venue is Beijing National Convention Centre.
