The leading telecom operator in India, Reliance Jio has been allotted a new 6- series mobile numbers which any other telecom operator have not received. This new 6-series is first allocated to Reliance Jio by the Access service wing of Department of Telecom (DoT) to meet one million subscriber demand.
As of now, the telecom operators use three number series to offer mobile numbers to subscribers. 7, 8 and 9. Reliance Jio received 6 -series number for Rajasthan, Assam and Tamil Nadu telecom circle. Jio received ten 6-series numbers in each circle.
India has around 1.2 billion mobile subscribers and is expected to grow by large pace owing to new entrant Reliance Jio and cheaper tariff plans. In this regard, DoT has been frequently allowing new number series on request by the telecom operators to meet the demand of new subscribers.
Reliance Jio has always been in news with its offerings, be its free data or free calling, every telecom operator followed Jio later. Now, with the new 6-series numbers first offered, Reliance Jio will make the buzz in the industry.
