Innovative battery concepts that will flourish and charge your smart devices in the future

Batteries did not evolve as do the smartphones. The first smartphone was launched 10 years back that is powered by 128MB internal storage with a 3.5-inch display.

Batteries are known to us since thousands of years and the lithium-ion batteries what we use today work on the same principle that was developed thousands of years ago. Though researchers developed lithium-ion batteries that put more power in small size, there are certainly some limitations in these batteries.

Many batteries based on a different source of materials have been developed by the researchers. But, the commercial viability is a big concern for the majority of these batteries. Scientists developed batteries based on Graphene that can charge in 10 minutes and last for several days, batteries are developed using urea as an electrolyte, a flow cell battery which gets charged using carbon dioxide.

Research has been done not only on designing the battery based on different electrolytes, but also on developing a technology to blow-out fire caused by Lithium-ion batteries.

The batteries we are introducing to you in this article are no way different from the above. They are developed with an innovative concept.

Bioo Plant Battery:

Bioo is a battery that generates electricity from Photosynthesis.
-Allows up to 2 charges per day. Power: 5.0v, 1.0A
-Night and day electrical production
-25x15x15 cm sized battery

The battery is being sold for $100 and gives a 1.5A output of electricity. Although it the capacity is not big, it is quite enough to charge a smartphone.

The Bioo battery works by exploiting the power of a chemical reaction between the soil and the organic materials discharged in the process of photosynthesis by the plant.

Skin Battery:

Skin battery may be born from a very innovative brains. The battery generates electricity using the friction generated by contact between the device and the skin.

The skin battery uses a gold film of nanometer thickness which captures the tiny electrical currents generated by friction between skin and device. A layer of silicone rubber increases surface area and ensures that the battery remains in a smaller size.

The skin battery can be sticked on to your skin to generate electricity and power up your wearable devices.
