iPhone 8 to feature Lumentum-sourced 3D sensor, OLED display, touch buttons and to be priced above $ 1000: Report

A new rumor surfaced elaborating the details of much-anticipated iPhone 8 set to be released this year. The report comes from Finnish company that provides in-depth details about the specifications and particularly the price segment.

iPhone 8 to feature 3D sensing technology, OLED display, touch buttons and to be priced above $ 1000

According to the report, the price of iPhone8 crosses $1000 which is higher than the current versions available. This price tag is attributed to the OLED display and upgraded memory in the new version from the earlier models. It is said that iPhone 8 will feature OLED display in place of LCD in earlier versions which spread across the whole front of the phone and confirms the earlier rumors. The report further claims the inclusion of 3D sensor technology which will be sourced from the company Lamentum. It is said that along with iPhone 8, Apple will release two other models 4.7-inch (likely iPhone 7S) and 5.5 inches (likely iPhone 7S plus) models.

Among them, OLED screen would be included only in iPhone 8 and the remaining two models are likely to have LCD displays. Both 5.5-inch iPhone and the 5.8-inch iPhone are expected to sport dual lens camera like the earlier iPhone 7S plus. Coming to the build of the phone, the sides of iPhone 8 will be made of stainless steel in place of Aluminium used in the current models. However, iPhone 8 will feature glass on the back as reported earlier

Another important feature is the replacement of physical home button and buttons on the sides with touch buttons. The source further claims Apple has been working with Lumentum on 3D sensing technology for iPhone 8. However it is not clear where Apple intends to apply the technology and the report speculates it may include in authentication, Camera or may be some form of augmented reality application. Also, Qualcomm and Intel will continue to supply the modem despite the legal battle. The report also downplays rumors that indicated the early release of iPhone than expected this year. Earlier this week a report surfaced wherein it said the production of iPhones has already started and that the company will release the new models sooner than expected.
