This is the longest study done in the history..! And this is to find out if a person's personality changes over time

Researchers from the university of Edinburgh in U.K has conducted the longest study on personality traits and how they change with respect to the age of the people. Most people believe that a person personality remains constant throughout his age, however, no one was able to prove it. In the current study, researchers focussed on person personality and wanted to know whether it changes with time.

Research Methodology

-The team of Researchers assessed the data from a study done 1950 in Scotland.
-The study included group of teachers who were asked to fill personality assessments of 1408 students who were aged 14 years back then
-The assessment included questions regarding basic traits such as stability of moods, self-confidence, conscientiousness, perseverance, desire to excel and originality
-The team of researchers then looked for the 1708 students who participated in the earlier study and are able to trace out 635 of them
-Out of 635 members, 174 of them agreed to undergo the similar test given by their teachers way back in 1950.
-Each of the volunteers also brought along someone that knew them well, and that person also filled out an assessment of the volunteer.

Next, the researchers looked out for any correlation between the assessment made by the teachers in 1950 and to that of the those made by the volunteers when they are 77 years old. To much of their surprise, they found no correlation at all. This is in contrast to earlier studies which indicated some degree of correlation.

So the current research proves that personality does change with age.The Rudy is published in the research study is published in the journal Psychology and Aging
