There is an interesting tradition in Taiwan where the number of roses you gift to a girl determines your proposal to love or forever or marriage. A single rose is a romantic gesture, 99 roses means forever and 108 roses mean a proposal for marriage.

Germans are a bit different in sharing valentine's gifts. The gifts will feature a pig which is a German symbol of lust and luck.
