Reliance Jio is planning to launch its home broadband services around Diwali. The plans for the service is expected to start at Rs. 500 for 100GB of data. Since its entrance as a mobile operator in September last year, Reliance Jio has raised a price war within telecom service providers. Jio's introduction has urged other telecom providers to offer unified services with free voice, SMS and data at a reduced price in order to fully compete with Jio. With JioFiber, the company is also expected to trigger a related price war in the home broadband segment as well.
Reliance Jio has already started testing its JioFiber across multiple cities including Mumbai and Delhi-NCR. The network is said to extend data speeds up to 100Mbps. The company may also follow the suit comparable to its mobile rollout by offering free services for an introductory period and then transform those customers into paid subscribers.
There are now visible signs of solidification in the home broadband market ahead of JioFiber's rollout. Bharti Airtel very recently hiked data volume for its existing home broadband plans with new offers:
- 60GB data for Rs 899,
- 90GB data for Rs 1,099
- 125GB data for Rs 1,299
The company also launched a 1000GB bonus data scheme as a limited period offer to the broadband users in NCR region.
