Apple plans to release 6.46-inch iPhone 9 in 2019 to rival Samsung Galaxy Note 8: Report

Apple is most likely to launch a 6.5-inch iPhone next year to stand as a rival to Samsung Note 8, which has a 6.3-inch screen. The 6.5-inch iPhone so called as iPhone 9 is expected to release in 2018.

While Apple is planning to release the iPhone 8 with the first ever display, OLED, the screen size of the upcoming phones are creating a strong buzz and turning the attention to the launch going to happen next year.

According to the new report, Apple is working with Samsung on the OLED display that comes in 5.85-inch and 6.46-inch sizes.

The 5.85-inch display is being used on the iPhone 8 that is releasing this September. But with reduced bezels, the physical sizes of 5.85-inch and 6.46-inch sizes would be similar to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus respectively.

Until now, Apple strongly considered releasing the 5.28-inch and 6.46-inch OLED iPhones next year. But on seeing the growing demand for bigger screen phones, Apple withdrew the 5.28-inch model.

If the expected plan goes ahead, Apple fans can enjoy big screen phones with OLED screens by next year. Apple used LCD screens for its iPhones until iPhone 7 models.
