Whatsapp is introducing yet another feature, Verified business accounts, that is similar to what Twitter and Facebook launched in the past. According to the FAQ page published on the Whatsapp website, verified business accounts will soon feature green ticks for businesses just like the Facebook and Twitter verified accounts.
According to the FAQs page of Whatsapp, some business accounts are already verified by Whatsapp and if you see a green tick after the mobile number, it is for sure that the account is confirmed by Whatsapp and belongs to a business account.
In addition, WhatsApp will allow you identify when you start talking to a business via yellow messages inside a chat. But, there is no way to delete these messages from the chat.
If you already have a business's phone number saved in your address book, the name you will see is the name you have saved in your address book.
If you don't have a business's phone number saved in your address book, the name you will see is the name the business has chosen for themselves.
If you'd like to stop a business from contacting you, you can block them.
On the down side, this facility is only limited to a small number of business participating in the pilot program.
