PM Narendra Modi announced big plans for common man who was to purchase houses in both urban and rural areas. He announced it as a gift for the support received post demonetization. He announced two housing schemes for urban areas. For home loan up to 9 lakh, the borrower will get a discount of 4% on interest charges. In the second scheme for home loans up to 12 lakhs, a discount of 3% would be given on the interest charges.
PM Modi termed the massive demonetisation drive of his government a historic “shuddhi yagana”. Appreciating the 125 crore Indians who supported the decision and underwent the pain, but were ready to sacrifice, PM Modi said, “After Diwali, after this announcement, we saw that everyone was determined to sacrifice and bear the pain to defeat ill forces in the economy.” “Kuch Baat hai ki hasti mitati nahi humaari – this is what the countrymen have proven,” PM Modi said.
The prime minister acknowledged the pain and lauded the countrymen saying that they have laid the foundation for better future. “This yagana will decide the direction of the country in the coming years. The honest people of this country wanted freedom from corruption,” he said. He further heaped praise on the people and saluted the efforts made in this regard. He said that these efforts cannot be matched in the world.
