Gboard (formerly Google Keyboard) records more than 500 million downloads in the Play Store

Google keyboard has been rebranded as Gboard and was released as an update earlier in December.It was an instant hit among the users. Gboard, has complete more than 500 million downloads and joined the likes of apps like photos, dropbox and super bright LED flashlight. One major reason that can be attributed is that the app is preinstalled in on a lot of devices but unlike other Google apps it is not present in all the devices. The exact number of downloads are not clear and currently, Gboard is in the bracket of 500 million-1 billion as viewed in play store.



Although many keyboard apps are in existence in the play store. Gboard, stands out among the crowd and is the go-to option. Gboard is packed with unique features some of which include, Gboard integrates search results with in  the keyboard so that you can carry search operation within the app itself without exiting. There is no need to download a separate app for Gif's and emoji's and can be sent from right within the keyboard. Also, G board allows multilingual typing and supports up to 36 languages.



If you look back, Google keyboard was launched in the play store way back in 2013 for devices running Android 4.0 and higher.It fared well in the competition but was with little features. Now it is completely bundled with the whole set of new features. You can download the Gboard here.
