A new research finds that parents with two or more children are at risk of cardiovascular disease. The research also says that the chances of cardiovascular disease are the same for both man and woman.
Reasons for the risk of cardiovascular disease:
There are some psychological reasons behind the parents having the risk of cardiovascular disease. One child often provides protection to parents but having any more increase the financial pressure which causes extra stress to fathers.
In the case of mothers, multiple pregnancies bring the hormonal changes which affect the woman. Multiple pregnancies lead to alterations that change the body's reaction to the additional cardiovascular risk factor.
A study was carried out on 500,000 people and found a significant relationship between the number of children and risk of coronary heart disease which is the world's leading killer.
But, there are also some socio-economic reasons behind the risk. Having one child is protective for parents especially at old age compared to more children which increase the economic and social pressure on the parents.
Another study found that multiple pregnancies in women increase the risk of developing an irregular heartbeat later in life. The condition is called atrial fibrillation which causes the blood clot, strokes and heart failure. Researchers found the condition even more severe in women had been through four or more pregnancies.
