Hundreds of missing children in china are recovered by police using this mobile app developed by Alibaba

In today's world where child trafficking is rampant, a mobile app in china helped recover hundreds of missing children last year. The ministry of public security has said that the app helped find 611 missing children last year. The mobile app named "Tuanyuan", or "reunion" in Chinese was developed by Alibaba group holding Ltd and was launched in May.  This has allowed the police officers to share information and work together.

As soon as the child is reported missing the anti-human trafficking police will release information immediately. The information will be distributed through mobile applications such as navigation mapping services and platform's official account on Sina Weibo which is similar to twitter in china. The information will be available for access to the public and authorities trace out children as soon as possible.

According to Criminal Investigation Bureau of the ministry of public security, there are more than 5000 anti-traffic police who update the app as soon as they receive the reports of missing children.

"Once a child goes missing and the local public security department releases the information to the public, the information will reach every application user within a radius of hundreds of kilometers in just a few seconds. Those who have received the information will then be alerted to be on the look-out for abnormal situations around them, and call the police if they see the suspects," said Chen Shiqu, the Deputy Inspector of Ministry of Public Security.

Liu Zhenfei, the Chief Risk Officer of Alibaba, said "We are going to work with the criminal investigation department under the Ministry of Public Security to make their work more accurate and efficient. Imagine one day if a child went missing — the information would be released immediately at nearby bus stations, railway stations and airports. With the help of surveillance cameras, we would be able to identify the missing child. This is where technical support is needed."
