This miracle Four-in-one drug "Quad pill" cures high blood pressure with minimum side effects

Researchers from George Institute at Sydney University have made an important discovery by combining four blood pressure drugs into a single pill that could be twice effective as the current treatments. In a new trial, the researchers gave every patient four-in-one drug which they called quadpill and observed the drop in blood pressure levels to a healthy level within a month. Also since each drug is in lower concentrations the combined effect of the drug caused minimum side-effects.

According to sources, Hypertension or high blood pressure affects 17 million Britons each year or in other words one in each three people are victims. This condition further increases the risk of heart attacks,  dementia, and strokes. There are no visible symptoms till it is in the advanced stage when patients come to know of the risk. After getting diagnosed, patients take pill daily to control blood pressure, but only half of patients  witness healthy blood pressure levels

Research study

-In the current trial, researchers gave 18 patients a single capsule which is a combination of four blood pressure drugs
-The four drugs included are irbesartan, amlodipine, hydrochlorothiazide and atenolol.
-The study reported 100 percent success rate wherein all the patients recorded normal blood pressure within a month after taking the Quad pill
-Researchers believe that since the dose of each drug was minimal there is no risk of side effects like swollen ankles and kidney abnormalities.
-Although the dose of drugs was lower, their combination increased the impact of the drug.

Researchers believe that although the initial findings are encouraging more research has to be done to study the long-term effects on the patients. It is also necessary to study whether the usage of drug reduces the risk and stroke and heart diseases before it can be released for regular use.
