At a time where there has been growing concern with regard to the privacy of mobile numbers of women, Vodafone has come up with innovative solution. It launched a new voucher pack dubbed "Vodafone Sakhi" that allows women to recharge their mobiles through an OTP code without the need to share their mobile numbers with the recharge outlets. Recently there was the incident in Uttar Pradesh (UP) wherein the recharge shop owners are selling mobile numbers of beautiful women at a price. This is followed by the harassment from men and the women are subjected to severe mental torture. So the new voucher introduced by Vodafone will in a way provides a solution to the problem.
Vodafone Sakhi:
-To get OTP code, the customer needs to send a toll-free SMS PRIVATE to 12604
-The customer can be any number of recharges using the OTP which is valid until midnight
-The customer needs to share the OTP to the recharge retailer to avail the recharge
-The recharge packs come in denominations of Rs 52, Rs 78 and Rs 99
-Vodafone also offers 50MB of 2G/3G data bundled with the packs
-The OPT can also be used for a period of 24 hours for all the recharges.
-Users purchasing this packs can also avail 10 minutes of emergency calling even with zero balance in phones
-In addition, Vodafone also offers health and beauty tips pack with a validity of 90days
-Vodafone Sakhi’ currently in select areas of Dehradun, Saharanpur and Firozabad in UP (W) and Uttarakhand.

According to the telco, a Vodafone connected women report in 2014 highlighted the privacy issues rural women face and also their hesitancy to share mobile numbers with recharge outlets. So keeping in view of the concerns Vodafone has launched the Vodafone Sakhi.
