Want to have smart children? Then give birth in late 30s; Research finds that children born to older mother are intelligent

A new research reveals that older mothers are likely to give birth to a clever child than the mothers who gave birth in the twenties.

These days late pregnancies are being quite common as most women are focussing on their career and delaying the pregnancy.

A few years ago, the situation is quite opposite, women get married and gave birth to a child in their twenties and by thirties, they were having their third of fourth child.

Until now, it is thought that the children born to older women will have highest cognitive ability than the children born to younger women.

This is now proved to be wrong in a new research. Researchers analyzed the data from three studies of children's development that were conducted in 1958, 1970 and 2001.

Researchers studied the children's ability to think, pay attention and read at their 10/11 years of age.

In the first two studies, children born to mothers aged 25 to 29 had the highest cognitive ability, the researchers found.

This data was compared to children born to women who were aged between 35 and 39 in the study published in the International Journal of Epidemiology.

In the study conducted in 2001, researchers found that the older mothers today tend to be more advantaged than the younger mothers. For example, they are well educated, are less likely to smoke during pregnancy and are established in professional jobs. Researchers also found that the cognitive abilities of children born to older mothers have changed over time.
