Beware! Consuming Diet Drinks Triple Your Risk Of Stroke And Dementia And Are More Dangerous Than Sugary Drinks

Diet drinks account for a quarter of sweetened beverages around the world and the research conducted on diet drinks are suggesting the ill health effects of these.

The results showed adults who take one or more diet drinks per day are 2.9 times more likely to develop dementia and 3 times likely to more risk of strokes. The results also suggested that having diet drinks 1 to 6 times a week are still associated with stroke but not dementia.

The author also said that the diet drinks are encouraging obesity as the artificial sweeteners are activating the sugar receptors in the brain making us voracious of food. There is because the brain is conditioned to expect calories when it perceives sweet taste. So, when artificial sweeteners are taken, brain expect calories along with the sweet taste. If the calories are not retrieved from the sugar, the brain tries to compensate the same with some other sweet food which makes people crave for more food.

So, the bottom line has more water and milk and stay far from sugary and diet drinks.
