LG G7 is reported to feature Snapdragon 845 processor that Qualcomm is working in Duo; SD 845 is 30% more efficient than 835 and built on 7nm process technology

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor has been finally seen in phones like Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Mi 6. Now, it is known that Qualcomm and LG Electronics are working together in the SD 835 successor, the Snapdragon 845 processor which is touted to be deployed in the LG G7 that will arrive in 2018.

The Snapdragon 845 processor is reported to be developed with many improvements over its forerunner. The SD 845 processor is developing on a 7nm process technology (SD 835 processor is developed on 10nm process technology) that if comes to reality, the smartphones can be built thinner and lighter. The processor performs 30% faster than the latest SD 835 which is quintessential to stand as the leader in the processors integrated into flagship phones.

LG G6 was initially thought to integrate the SD 835 SoC, but due to the supply constraints, the processor has been confined to Samsung Galaxy S8 and G6 came integrated with the older 821 processor. This laid the major turn-off by the users to buy G6. Industry experts also speculate that LG is slowly shifting the focus from stability to innovation in product development.

“The adoption of the Snapdragon 845 for LG’s next flagship phone seems certain, acknowledging the emerging virtual reality and augmented reality solutions demand more powerful data processing capability,” an industry official said.
